Smart Grid is a flexible, assignable grid system you can add to your POS flow. It lets the flow designer control layout and styling in Builder, while giving each Outlet the freedom to decide how their tiles actually behave. This makes Smart Grid ideal for flows used across many different merchants, locations, and workflows.
A Smart Grid defines the number of tiles (rows × columns), the styling of each tile variant, and which tile types are available for assignment. When the flow is published and opened in the Final POS app, each tile appears in an unassigned state until a Station user configures it.
Smart Grid supports four assignable tile types:
Product – adds a specific product to the cart
Action – runs a flow action such as discounting or navigating
Category – opens a category browser and product list
Folder – opens another grid with the same layout for deeper navigation
An automatic Back Button tile appears whenever the user navigates into a folder or category. This tile always occupies the top-left position and uses its own variant design.
Smart Grid solves a common gap in POS design: the person building the flow is often not the person who uses it every day. By separating layout (done by the designer) from setup (done by the merchant), you can deploy a single POS layout to hundreds of businesses—each personalizing their grid however they need.
Smart Grid is designed for:
Resellers and agencies deploying POS flows to many clients
Multi-location businesses with different priorities per Outlet
Merchants who frequently reorganize their workflow
Mobile POS environments where layouts differ by staff or duty
Each Outlet gets its own configuration, so organizations with multiple merchants or branches can maintain consistent structure while allowing local customization.
Smart Grid behaves like a customizable home screen for your POS flow. With folders and categories, merchants can build simple or deep navigation systems entirely from tile assignments.
